twister, an adventure film about scientists chasing tornadoes, will get a sequel, according to information given by Deadline on Monday (17). THE Universal Pictures and the Amblin Entertainment would be developing a large-scale sequence called Twisters, which will have Frank Marshall (Indiana Jones 5) in production.

According to the portal, the Steven Spielbergfrom Amblin, was impressed with the screenplay for the feature, written by Mark L. Smith (Seance). Studios are looking for directors and some names on the table are Elizabeth Chai Vasarhelyi and Jimmy Chin (Free Soil), Dan Trachtenberg (The Predator: The Hunt) and Travis Knight (Bumblebee).

Sources say the hope is to bring Helen Hunt back, with a drama that focuses on the daughter she had with the character played by the late Bill Paxton.

Released in 1996, Twister is about two rival groups of storm researchers. As the most devastating storm in decades looms, college professor Jo Harding and a team of under-resourced students prepare Dorothy’s prototype, an innovative device that collects data from tornadoes, created by her ex-husband Bill. When Harding tells Bill that Dorothy is ready for testing, and that her rival Jonas Miller stole her idea, Bill joins the team for one last mission in the search for tornadoes.
