Los Angeles-based AXS, a leading ticketing and event access platform under AEG, is set to introduce an innovative biometric authentication feature in its mobile app on a global scale. This new capability allows users to log into their accounts and access their tickets using either fingerprint or facial recognition technology.
Justin Burleigh, the Chief Product Officer at AXS, emphasized the dual benefits of this feature. “Not only does it enhance security for our users, but it also simplifies the ticketing process, enabling fans to concentrate on enjoying their live event experiences,” he stated.
AXS asserts that the addition of biometric authentication will also facilitate smoother account recovery, as users can utilize their biometric data to regain access to their accounts. This advancement aims to significantly reduce the risk of fraudulent activities associated with ticketing.
The trend of incorporating biometrics in sports events has seen considerable growth, with various companies, including Wicket, Veridas, Clear, and NEC, leading the charge. Recent surveys indicate that nearly half of all venues (47 percent) view biometric solutions as a primary focus for 2025. Research supports this shift, highlighting enhanced security and operational efficiency as key advantages of biometric technology in stadiums.
