Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s recent visit to Washington has marked a significant shift in U.S.-Israel relations. The meeting with President Donald Trump and other U.S. officials focused on strengthening the alliance between the two nations. In an interview with “Life, Liberty & Levin” host Mark Levin, Netanyahu praised Trump’s leadership and highlighted his impact on the U.S.-Israel alliance.
Trump’s swift actions in support of Israel since taking office less than a month ago have been noticeable. Before his inauguration, he issued a strong warning to Hamas, threatening severe consequences if hostages held in Gaza were not released. With the assistance of the Biden administration, a deal was brokered shortly after.
One of the key policy changes came when Trump lifted a hold on the delivery of 2,000-pound bombs to Israel, a move that had been paused by the Biden administration due to concerns about civilian casualties in Gaza. Netanyahu described Trump’s decision as “instantaneous” and commended his commitment to combating antisemitism and standing up against the International Criminal Court (ICC), which targets America, Israel, and other democracies.
Recently, Trump signed an executive order imposing sanctions on the ICC for its investigations into Israel. The ICC has issued an arrest warrant for Netanyahu, accusing him of war crimes during Israel’s military response in Gaza following the 2023 Hamas attacks. Both the U.S. and Israel reject the ICC’s authority.
The conflict in Gaza has resulted in numerous Palestinian casualties and significant damage to the Gaza Strip. Trump’s plan to rebuild Gaza has faced criticism from some Democrats. During a joint press conference with Netanyahu, Trump outlined a comprehensive proposal that involves the U.S. taking over the Gaza Strip and overseeing the dismantling of dangerous weapons, leveling the site, and creating economic development for the area.
Netanyahu expressed support for the plan, emphasizing Israel’s commitment to working closely with the U.S. on future Middle East policy. He praised Trump, stating that “Israel has no better friend than America” and that under Trump’s leadership, America has no greater friend than Israel.
The full interview with Prime Minister Netanyahu will air on “Life, Liberty, & Levin” on Saturday at 8pm.
