Camping World CEO defies another city’s threat of legal action over huge American flag: Not ‘coming down’

Camping World CEO Defies City’s Order to Remove Giant American Flag

Camping World, a national RV dealer with over 200 locations, is once again facing legal action from a city over its iconic 40 feet by 80 feet American flag that proudly waves outside their dealership. The city of Sevierville, Tennessee, has requested the removal of a 100-foot flagpole on the dealership’s property, citing a violation of the Municipal Zoning Ordinance, according to a letter posted by CEO Marcus Lemonis.

Lemonis firmly stated that the flag and flagpole will not be taken down, emphasizing that the current flagpole is 130 feet tall and the flag itself measures 40×80 feet. He also expressed his excitement to continue contributing to the town’s tax revenue through the new $20 million facility built on former farmland.

This is not the first time Lemonis has faced such requests to remove the massive Camping World flags. He has encountered similar situations across the country and has even been subjected to daily fines in some areas.

Taking a Stand Against Fines for Massive American Flag

In a recent interview with FOX Business’ “The Bottom Line,” Lemonis discussed his ongoing battles with local municipalities over the display of the giant flags. He mentioned his experiences in Statesville, North Carolina; Morgan Hill, California; Onalaska, Wisconsin; and Greenville, North Carolina, highlighting the issue of excessive regulations that hinder business growth and create unnecessary distractions.

Lemonis’ Personal Connection to the American Flag

Lemonis, who was born in Lebanon and adopted by a couple in Miami, has a deep personal connection to the American flag. He shared that he displays the large flag because he believes in it. As an immigrant, Lemonis credits the opportunities he has received in the United States for his success and ability to employ 13,000 people. He has cherished the significance of the American flag since he was a child.

City’s Crackdown on Patriotism and Impact on Business

Lemonis argues that the city’s crackdown on his display of patriotism is just one example of how local governments can hinder businesses and contribute to increased costs. He believes that unnecessary regulations and restrictions imposed by municipalities do not advance the interests of businesses but instead create obstacles and distractions.

Despite facing legal challenges and potential fines, Lemonis remains steadfast in his commitment to proudly display the giant American flag at Camping World locations across the country. He sees it as a symbol of his gratitude to the country that has given him so much and a testament to the opportunities that America offers to immigrants like himself.
