Ex-NFL star reveals how he’d beat drug tests during playing days

Former NFL player Adam “Pacman” Jones recently revealed in an interview that he successfully bypassed the league’s drug tests during his time playing for the Cincinnati Bengals and other teams. Jones admitted on Deion Sanders’ Tubi show, “We Got Time Today,” that he “cheated” the league’s drug program and claimed his method was foolproof.

A Clever Approach to Avoiding Drug Tests

Jones confidently declared, “People don’t know how smart I am, but I can say it now. I don’t play anymore, but I’ve never used my private parts for a drug test. Not once.” His statement raised eyebrows, as Sanders, skeptical of such a claim, insisted that it would be impossible for a player to get away with what Jones described.

Strict Drug Policies in the NFL

During Jones’ playing years from 2005 to 2018, the NFL had a strict zero-tolerance policy on marijuana use. However, regulations have since become more lenient. Pro Football Hall of Famer Champ Bailey admitted in an interview with Fox News Digital that he and other players used marijuana during their careers. Bailey revealed that players were aware of the testing schedule and would abstain from using the drug before being tested.

Navigating the System

Bailey explained, “They were very strict back then, but it wasn’t necessarily about catching players. We knew when the tests were coming, so we would quit using at a certain time. Unfortunately, this sometimes hindered our recovery because we had to quit during the offseason, when we were training hard to get back in shape. We would discuss among ourselves when we had to stop using, as some players would get tested earlier than others. It was a topic of conversation, but we supported each other and made sure we all got through it.”

The Evolution of Drug Policies in the NFL

Bailey believes that the league wasted a significant amount of resources on enforcing strict drug policies that could have been better utilized. He expressed his pride in seeing the league’s shift towards a more progressive stance on cannabis use. The NFL has recognized the potential benefits of marijuana and has started to embrace a more understanding approach.

Moving Forward

As attitudes towards cannabis change, more players are speaking up and advocating for the use of marijuana as a legitimate medical and recreational option. The NFL’s shift in perspective has empowered athletes like Bailey to openly discuss their experiences and contribute to the ongoing conversation surrounding cannabis use in professional sports.
