George Floyd's family sues Kanye West for R$1.3 billion for damages

During his appearance on the Drink Champs podcast, Kanye West, 45, claimed that George Floyd’s death was caused by fentanyl. After comments denying death by asphyxiation, the family of George Floyd and his legal team filed a lawsuit against the famous.

On Tuesday, Roxie Washington, the mother of George Floyd’s daughter, confirmed that she has hired a team of attorneys to resolve the matter of Kanye West, his business partners and associates.

Lawyers for the family accuse them of harassment, embezzlement, defamation and infliction of emotional distress, asking for $250 million in damages.

TMZ also obtained a letter from lawyers addressed to Kanye West, for his controversial comments about the interaction between George Floyd and Minneapolis police officers that led to his death by asphyxiation.

“Mr Floyd’s cause of death is well resolved through evidence presented in court during the criminal and civil trials that resulted from his untimely and gruesome death. However, you made malicious statements that are inaccurate and unfounded, causing damage to property of Mr Floyd and his family,” the document reiterated.

In the billionaire lawsuit, the family’s lawyers still ask the singer to delete his interview and his statements about what happened, and he should no longer pronounce the name of George Floyd.
