In a significant move for their coaching staff, the New York Jets have announced the hiring of Aaron Curry as their new linebackers coach. This appointment comes as part of the strategy implemented by head coach Aaron Glenn, who is eager to bolster the defensive unit.
Aaron Curry, 38, brings a wealth of experience to the Jets, having spent the past two seasons as the inside linebackers coach for the Pittsburgh Steelers. His coaching career also includes a stint with the Seattle Seahawks from 2019 to 2022, where he began as a coaching assistant before progressing to a defensive assistant role. This background gives him a diversified skill set that he hopes to leverage in New York.
Drafted fourth overall by the Seahawks in 2009, Curry’s playing career included 35 games with Seattle before he was traded to the Oakland Raiders during the 2011 season. He played 13 games for the Raiders through the end of the 2012 season. After his playing days, Curry transitioned to coaching at the college level, working with the Charlotte 49ers from 2013 to 2018 before returning to the NFL.
This latest addition to the Jets’ coaching staff signifies a commitment to strengthening their defense as they look to improve their performance in the upcoming season.
