Suspended from Twitter and Instagram, Kanye West released a 30-minute vlog on YouTube, this Monday (10). with the title of last week (“last week”, in Portuguese), the video shows some random scenes from the rapper’s routine, including an uncomfortable meeting with Adidas employees and a family moment with his ex-wife, Kim Kardashian.
The vlog begins with a recording that imitates a video game character made in Tokyo, Japan. A person dressed in a black hood and face covered (new classic look by Kanye West) walks around town doing chores like a game of RPG.
After reaching the top of a building and finding a white dove, a “mission completed” message appears on the screen, followed by the title “war” (“war”, in Portuguese).
Without indicating when the recordings were made, the publication comes after a week filled with controversy. After showing up with a t-shirt with the phrase “white lives matter” at fashion week from Paris, Kanye West made anti-Semitic comments on social media, which resulted in the suspension of the rapper’s official accounts.
The rest of the vlog is all recorded with a fisheye lens and a filter reminiscent of old camera footage. Kanye West appears in a car singing an unreleased song, with verses that counter criticism he receives from the audience.
“You a fake bitch/ You don’t really love Ye/ Go listen Drakebitch”, says the rapper who now goes by the name Yes. He even mentions the names of lil baby and future as an alternative for those who do not support your work.
In the following scenes, Kanye is seen chatting about different fabrics for clothing, watching a video of nutritious plants in a car, and meeting with what appear to be employees of the adidas, brand with which the rapper has already launched a series of collaborations. All the men appear frowning, with the exception of West.
The conversation seems to be related to a recent case, when the artist accused the CEO of Adidas, Kasper Rørsted, of having copied one of the sneakers from their collaboration in a common model launched by the brand. A rep for Kanye West says the execs disrespected the rapper, in a time filled with unease. In the last week, the company stated which is reviewing the contract with West, which was originally going to run until 2026.
In the final scenes of the documentary, Kanye appears at his daughter’s basketball game. North West. The rapper still talks to Kim Kardashian on-site, in audio-free recordings.
