Miami Marathon 2025: Road Closures and Traffic Updates for Participants and Motorists

The highly anticipated Life Time Miami Marathon is set to take place this Sunday, welcoming an impressive turnout of over 18,000 runners. This marks the 23rd annual event, showcasing the vibrant streets of Miami and Miami Beach as participants tackle the full marathon distance of 26.2 miles, commencing at the Kaseya Center in Downtown Miami and culminating near Bayfront Park.

Road Closures and Traffic Adjustments

As the marathon unfolds, significant road closures will affect local traffic. Starting Friday, January 31, at 10:00 a.m., the northbound lanes of Biscayne Boulevard will be closed between Southeast 2nd Street and Northeast 2nd Street. A counter-flow will be implemented, redirecting all vehicles entering Biscayne Boulevard at Chopin Plaza to the southbound lanes at Southeast 1st Street, returning to normal traffic patterns at Northeast 2nd Street.

On Saturday, February 1, beginning at 8:00 a.m., all northbound traffic entering Biscayne Boulevard will be diverted west on Southeast 2nd Street, while southbound traffic will be rerouted at Northeast 1st Street, with the option to continue south on Southeast 2nd Avenue. Notably, there will be no vehicle traffic allowed on Biscayne Boulevard between Southeast 1st Street and Northeast 1st Street.

Come Sunday, February 2, at 5:00 a.m., citywide road closures will commence, with expected re-opening around 2:00 p.m. Although most closures will be lifted by this time, the counter-flow on Biscayne Boulevard is projected to remain until approximately 5:00 p.m.

Advice for Motorists

Motorists are encouraged to seek alternative routes during the marathon to avoid delays. To ensure safety and assist with the flow of traffic, City of Miami Police officers will be stationed along the closed routes.
