Suspect in Custody for Brutal Murder of High School Cheerleader
Angelina Camillia Gonzales, a 17-year-old high school cheerleader, was found stabbed to death in California just days before Christmas. Now, a suspect is in custody in connection to her brutal murder. Gonzales’ family alleges that her ex-boyfriend is responsible for the crime.
The Tragic Night
According to Gonzales’ family, her ex-boyfriend picked her up from a cheerleading banquet and brought her back to his house on December 20. At around 10 p.m., officers from the Azusa Police Department discovered Gonzales with stab wounds. Despite being rushed to a local hospital, she was pronounced dead.
Tracking the Culprit
The family claims that they were able to track Gonzales’ cell phone to her ex-boyfriend’s house. When Angelina’s stepfather, Robert Caraballo, arrived at the scene, he was met with crime scene tape and forensic investigators. Desperate to find his daughter, Caraballo pleaded with the officers for information. Eventually, he was informed of her tragic fate.
A Troubled Relationship
Caraballo revealed that he had warned Gonzales multiple times to stay away from her ex-boyfriend. However, he also acknowledged that she had a “really big heart and always saw the good in him.” Despite the warning signs, Gonzales remained involved with her ex-boyfriend, ultimately leading to her untimely demise.
A Life Cut Short
Gonzales’ mother, Letica Carabello, created a GoFundMe page to raise funds for her daughter’s funeral expenses. In the description, Carabello expressed her devastation at the loss of her “perfect gorgeous Angel baby.” She also highlighted Gonzales’ bright future, as she was about to turn 18 on January 7.
The Arrest
The suspect in custody is an 18-year-old acquaintance of the victim and a resident of Azusa. However, their identity has not been revealed by the authorities. The suspect’s arraignment is scheduled for Tuesday, and the district attorney is currently reviewing the case. The filing decisions will be made on Tuesday morning.

The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department Homicide Bureau is urging anyone with information about this incident to come forward. They can be reached at 323-890-5500. Fox News Digital reached out to the Azusa Police Department for comment but did not receive an immediate response.
