Trump Predicts Biden Will Pardon Hunter Biden
In a candid interview with Fox News correspondent Bill Melugin, then-President-elect Donald Trump made a prediction that President Biden would pardon his son, Hunter Biden. This conversation took place during a campaign rally in Arizona back in October.
When asked if he would consider pardoning Hunter Biden in the name of unity, Trump responded, “I wouldn’t do anything that would be over in terms of Hunter. It’s a sad situation. I’ll bet you the father probably pardons him, let’s see what happens, but he’s a bad boy, there is no question about it.”
Biden Accuses Republicans of Unfair Treatment in Response to Hunter’s Pardon
In a recent statement, President Biden accused Republicans of unfair treatment in the case of his son, Hunter Biden. He claimed that Hunter was “treated differently” by prosecutors, leading to his decision to grant his son a pardon.
Hunter Biden’s legal troubles include convictions for three felony firearm offenses in Delaware and pleading guilty to multiple felony tax offenses. Despite these charges, President Biden defended his decision, stating, “From the day I took office, I said I would not interfere with the Justice Department’s decision-making, and I kept my word even as I have watched my son being selectively, and unfairly, prosecuted.”
Biden Highlights Factors in Hunter’s Case and Invokes Personal Struggles
President Biden further elaborated on the factors involved in Hunter’s case, emphasizing that individuals are rarely brought to trial solely for inaccuracies on firearm forms unless there are aggravating factors. He also mentioned that those who have paid their taxes late due to serious addictions often receive non-criminal resolutions.
In addition, Biden highlighted his son’s battle with substance abuse and appealed to Americans to understand his decision. He stated, “There has been an effort to break Hunter – who has been five and a half years sober, even in the face of unrelenting attacks and selective prosecution. In trying to break Hunter, they’ve tried to break me – and there’s no reason to believe it will stop here. Enough is enough.”
The controversy surrounding Hunter Biden’s legal issues and the decision to pardon him continues to be a topic of debate and scrutiny.
