Watchmen Creator Alan Moore Destroys HBO Series

Alan Moorecreator of the comic book series watchmenhad nothing good to say about the miniseries that HBO produced based on his work. In an interview with GQ magazine, the writer said he disowned the series and asked that no one from the production contact him again.

Moore described that, at the time, he even received a letter from the production’s showrunner, Damon Lindelofwhich read: “Dear Mr. Moore. I am one of the bastards destroying Watchmen these days”.

“I gave a very abrupt and probably hostile response, telling him that I thought Warner Bros. knew that they, and none of their employees, should contact me again, for whatever reason,” he said.

“I explained that I had disowned the work in question, in part because the film and comics industry seemed to have created things that had nothing to do with my work, but would be associated in the public’s mind. shame. I don’t want anything to do with your show. Please don’t bother me again.” The author, it is worth noting, did not watch the production after it was released.

The series takes place 30 years after the events of the graphic novel by Dave Gibbons and Alan Moore, in a reality where vigilantes are treated like villains. One of the main characters is Angela Abar/Sister Night (Regina King), who begins to uncover a vast web of intrigue and secrets involving the police and an extremist group called the Seventh Kavalry.

Ended in December 2019, the Watchmen miniseries is available on the streaming service HBO Max.
